Once you have your TC-L4 qualification you may apply for PC-L5.
The CPCAB L5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling will help
you strengthen your skills, confidence and readiness for complex counselling work,
either in private practice or within an Agency.
PC-L5 provides you with sector-wide recognition that can open doors
across many professional settings, giving you enhanced employment
opportunities within:-
NHS services, schools and educational institutions
Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs)
Charitable and voluntary sector organisations
Specialist counselling and therapy agencies
From September 2025, the PC-L5 will be fully mapped to the competencies
outlined in SCoPEd Column B, which may provide a more straight forward
route to accreditation with BACP and NCPS.
More news on this is coming from CPCAB a little later this Summer.
Why does this matter?
The SCoPEd framework helps to unify professional standards,
making counselling and psychotherapy more visible, trusted and valued
by the public, employers, commissioners and healthcare services.
This course will go deeper into the practical side of counselling work,
but will also, through experiential learning included in many classes,
enable your self awareness to develop to a much deeper level,
crucial for holding complex case loads.
It follows the model of 7 learning units as runs through the CPCAB training levels
and is based on the completion of a portfolio, plus client and supervision hours.
The 2025-2026 Candidate Learning Guide will be released in August
and we will add this to our website once it is available.
